Salvator Mundi, painted by Leonardo DaVinci AKA The Renaissance man

Salvator Mundi (“Savior of the World”) was likely painted sometime around the year 1500. It is believed to have been commissioned by the French Royal Family, and subsequently created for King Louis XII of France and Anne of Brittany.

It has for several hundred years been passed on, and been overpainted - until it got restored and authenticated as one of the 20 authentic pictures of DaVinci.
Sold at auction in 2017 for $450,312,500 
- becoming the most expensive work of art ever sold at auction.
